“Four limbs on the mat. Fingers gripping, heels pushing down, arms and neck extended. Core pulled in to the spine, straightening and elongating with each breath. Hips high, chest low, pushing and pulling at the same time. And just four limbs on the mat.
Downward facing dog is one of the first poses that I tried that made me rethink body care. The goal is simple, breathe into the pose and extend. But it’s so much more than that, and that’s what I love. It’s a physical challenge first, and a mental challenge second. This is the pose that begins and ends my day even for just a moment. This is the pose that helps me feel connected.
The pose is simple yet does so much to release and strengthen your body. It’s beautiful and powerful and grounding. And throughout 2020, the pose that keeps me going.”
